Why does any business advise you to “approach your warm market”?
What is a “warm market”?
A warm market is generally the immediate people you know. It could be your family members to neighbors to your child’s teacher. It is basically people you would feel comfortable approaching. Really, to put it bluntly…people that you could approach and practice doing your presentation and would not care if you trip over yourself, stumble and stutter.
Okay, so it is easier said than done, right? Some people may actually be more comfortable approaching complete strangers than their warm market. Rejection is easier to swallow coming from a stranger than someone you know, right? ;-)
So how do you do it? Here’s a sample dialogue:
“I have started my own business and would like to have a moment of your time. Because I am new and need to practice giving the presentation, I would appreciate presenting to you and getting your feedback.”
